WALT write an explanation of how a Hydro-power station works
A Hydro-dam is an amazing structure that makes electricity from water!
Firstly you build a dam to block the river.Water then builds up behind the dam. This is called the reservoir.
Water then goes through the intake, and down the penstock.Water hits the turbine and spins it very fast.
This makes electricity which is stored in the generator. The electricity then travels through the power lines to houses and cities. After the water has gone through the turbine, it rejoins the river.
A dam is an amazing idea because it can power up anything that has electricity. It can power up your car and any machine. It is also renewable.

Non-renewable (will run out) energy source:
Coal,Natural gas,Petroleum,
This is how Solar is used to generate (make) power

Fractions
In Maths this term we have been learning about FRACTIONS
I can find fractions of whole numbers like:
½ of 12 =6 ⅓ of 9=3 1/10 of 20=2
⅔ of 12=8 ⅘ of 10=8
I can recognise when a fraction is greater than 1:
½ + ½ + ½ =1 1\2
⅓ + ⅓ + ⅓ + ⅓ =1 1\3
7/4 =1 3\4

How a Tapa Cloth is made
Sketching shells
Firstly, we were sketching shells and also we sketched a border. We used patterns from our
countries like Tonga and Samoa for the border. We chose one of the shells to sketch onto the brown cardboard.
Transferring design
Secondly, we transferred our deign to cardboard and did the border in pencil. Then we went over it with a black vivid. We also drew vivid around our border and drew our patterns into the border.
Scrunching cardboard
Next, we scrunched it up so it can look like a tapa cloth. We had to do it 30 times. When we had finished it felt like smooth cloth.
Adding colour
Finally, we added colour onto our tapa cloth. We used black and brown pastels. It was fun adding colours to our tapa cloth. When I had finished I thought my tapa cloth looked wonderful!
