How a Tapa Cloth is made

Sketching shells

Firstly, we were sketching shells and also we sketched a border. We used  patterns from our
countries like Tonga and Samoa for the border. We chose one of the shells to sketch onto the brown cardboard.

Transferring design

Secondly, we transferred our deign to cardboard and did the border in pencil.  Then we went over it with a black vivid. We also drew vivid around our border and drew our patterns into the  border.

Scrunching cardboard

Next, we scrunched it up so it can look like a tapa cloth. We had to do it 30 times. When we had finished it felt  like smooth cloth.

Adding colour

Finally, we added colour onto our tapa cloth. We used black and brown pastels. It was fun adding colours to our tapa cloth. When I had finished I thought my tapa cloth looked wonderful!
